Establishment

In year 2000, Computer Science department started with only B.Sc. Computer Science Programme with intake 24.
In year 2003, M.Sc. Computer Science (by papers) Programme was started with intake 12.
In year 2025, M.Sc. Data Science (by papers) Programme was started with intake 1 to 60.

To provide a high-quality undergraduate and post graduate education in computer science that prepares students for productive careers and lifelong learning.

MISSION
To provide quality graduate and post graduate education in both the theoretical and applied foundations of computer science and train students to effectively apply this education to solve real-world problems.
To provide prominent computer knowledge to students belonging to semi-rural area gradually producing competent professionals with research and innovation skills, inculcating moral values and social concerns.

Eligibility Criteria

BSC Computer Science: Three Year Degree Programme. Candidates must have passed 12th Science with a minimum of
40% marks and Mathematics as a compulsory subject in the
12th standard.
MSC Computer Science: Two Year Degree Course. Candidates must have passed a Bachelor’s Degree in Science
from the University of Mumbai or an equivalent recognized
university with Major Mathematics or Major Physics with
Ancillary Mathematics, or Major Statistics with Ancillary
Mathematics, OR a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or
B.Sc. (Computer Science) or BCS or
B.Sc. (Information Technology) or BCA degree.
MSC Data Science: Two Year Degree Programme. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science or
Arts or Commerce or Technology from the University of
Mumbai or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.A minimum of 50% marks in graduation is
required to be eligible for admission.Candidates without Mathematics in 12th must complete a
bridge course to be eligible for the programme.
(Till successful completion of the bridge course,
admission will be considered to be provisional.)

Computer Literacy Day
To mark Computer Literacy Day, the Computer Science Department of Gogate-Joglekar College organized a grand exhibition on the theme "Robotics using IoT Sensors and Devices." Second-year students of the Computer Science department showcased various innovative projects during the exhibition. The projects featured advanced devices and components like Arduino Uno, IR Sensor, Flame Sensor, Soil and Moisture Detector, Sound Sensor, Touch Sensor, and Remote Control Car. Students explained the projects to attendees in a simple yet impactful manner.

Remarkably, the department has won the first prize for three consecutive years, marking a consistent record of excellence.

Cyber Shiksha for Cyber Suraksha Earn & Learn Program
Gogate Jogalekar College conducted a cyber-awareness program to spread Cyber Security Awareness among students, in collaboration with Quick Heal Foundation and Maharashtra cyber cell is setting up “Cyber Awareness Literacy Cell” (CALC) in colleges associated with it. Academic year 2023-24, Quick Heal Foundation signed MoU with Gogate Jogalekar College, Ratnagiri for the conduction of cyber-safety awareness programme in Konkan region.

Exhibition on "Robotics using IoT Sensors and Devices" at Gogate-Jogalekar College on Computer Literacy Day. To mark Computer Literacy Day, the Computer Science Department of Gogate-Joglekar College organized a grand exhibition on the theme "Robotics using IoT Sensors and Devices." Second-year students of the Computer Science department showcased various innovative projects during the exhibition. The projects featured advanced devices and components like Arduino Uno, IR Sensor, Flame Sensor, Soil and Moisture Detector, Sound Sensor, Touch Sensor, and Remote Control Car. Students explained the projects to attendees in a simple yet impactful manner.

Academic year 2024-25, Quick Heal Foundation signed MoU with Gogate Jogalekar College, Ratnagiri for the conduction of cyber-safety awareness programme in Konkan region.

2025-26 Exhibition on "AI-ROBO Innovations Fair - 2025"
at Gogate-Jogalekar College on Computer Literacy Day.
On the occasion of World Computer Literacy Day – 2025, the Department of Computer Science, Gogate-Jogalekar College (Autonomous), Ratnagiri successfully organized the “AI-ROBO Innovations Fair” on 5th December 2025, with great enthusiasm and participation.

Students of SY BSc Computer Science showcased outstanding and innovative projects based on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and IoT Automation. The exhibition reflected the scientific
mindset, creativity, and technical skills of young learners in an impressive manner.

Around 300 students from various departments of the college such as BAF, BCOM, BMS, BSc Maths, Chemistry, Botany, BBA, FY-Arts, Suyash 11, Physics, Zoology, Sociology, BA, MSc Chemistry, Psychology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, NCC, BSc Chemistry, Biochemistry, enthusiastically visited the exhibition to explore the projects.Additionally, 60 students from R. B. Shirke Junior College and about 80 students from Abhyankar Kulkarni College also participated and interacted with the project exhibits.

Poster Making Competition on the Theme of “Environmental Geography“ - A Showcase of Students' Creativity and Environmental Awareness. The Department of Computer Science organized a Poster Making Competition on 8 January 2026 on the theme “Environmental Geography.”

The competition was organized for FY BSc students and received enthusiastic participation from 53 students.

All the participants creatively expressed various environmental issues through their posters. The students demonstrated excellent creativity, awareness, and concern for environmental conservation.

The event was successfully conducted, and all students created very nice and meaningful posters, making the competition informative and inspiring.

Software Engineering in Real Life and Growing with AI The Department of Computer Science, Gogate–Jogalekar College (Autonomous), Ratnagiri, organized an online expert lecture for all T.Y. B.Sc. students on the topic “Software Engineering in Real Life and Growing with AI.”
The session was delivered by Mr. Vinay Jogalekar, Senior Software Engineer at Google UK, on Monday, December 8, 2025.
During the lecture, Mr. Jogalekar shared valuable insights into the real-world software development process, industry trends, project management, software quality, teamwork, and working culture in product-based companies.
He also explained how Artificial Intelligence is transforming the software industry, essential skills for developers, AI-integrated tools, and how students can prepare to grow in their careers with practical examples from industry experience.
The lecture proved to be highly beneficial in giving students a realistic understanding of the global IT industry, modern development practices, and career opportunities in AI-driven software engineering. The session received an enthusiastic response from all participants.

Artificial Intelligence (AI): Advantages and Disadvantages Ratnagiri, 28 January 2026 —
The Department of Computer Science, Gogate Jogalekar College (Autonomous), Ratnagiri, organized a one-day seminar on “Artificial Intelligence (AI): Advantages and Disadvantages.”
The seminar featured Mr. Gajanan Londhe, Head, NSTC Program Office, Ministry of Education, NCERT, New Delhi, as the resource person. In his expert talk, he explained why Artificial Intelligence is essential in the modern era, its applications in various fields such as education, industry, healthcare, and administration, and also discussed the challenges and potential drawbacks of AI.
A total of 80 students from SY B.Sc. Computer Science and TY B.Sc. Computer Science actively participated in the seminar. The interactive session, including student queries and detailed responses from the expert, made the program highly engaging and informative.

Educational Activity on Sunspot Observation and Astronomy under the Science Association at Gogate Jogalekar College, Ratnagiri On 5th February 2026, an educational demonstration and discussion on sunspot observation and astronomy were organized at Gogate Jogalekar College (Autonomous), Ratnagiri under the Science Association. The program was conducted jointly by the Department of Astronomy, Department of Physics, and Department of Computer Science.
During this activity, detailed discussions were held on the importance of the Sun in the solar system, how human life and nature depend on solar energy, and the changing positions of sunspots along with their scientific significance. Guidance was also provided by Babasaheb Sutar Sir on the role of computer science in the study of astronomy and its growing importance.
In this program, Babasaheb Sutar Sir demonstrated live observation of sunspots to students using a telescope, which sparked great curiosity and interest in astronomy among the students.
